The Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board (SSAIB) was set up by the concerted effort of a large section of the security installation industry. It is a non profit making organisation, whose sole aim is to protect the users of security systems against unsafe or unsound security installations. It achieves this objective by maintaining a Roll of Installers throughout the country who are Registered with the SSAIB

The Association of Master Upholsterers & Soft Furnishers was founded in 1947, making it one of the oldest associations in the furniture industry. Its membership comprises craft upholsterers, upholstered furniture manufacturers, chair frame manufacturers, soft furnishing retailers and contractors and others associated with the craft of upholstery. (Soft furnishing is traditionally encompassed within the skills range of the traditional upholsterer.)

CORGI is the Council for registered Gas Installers. It is an independent body appointed by the Health and Safety Executive to register gas installer businesses and maintain safety standards throughout the industry.  CORGI maintains a computerised database listing all Registered Gas Installers on mainland Britain.
 There are approximately 49,000 Installers with a total of over 113,000 operatives registered with CORGI.

The Electrical Contractors' Association (ECA) was founded in 1901. Its member firms range from local employers with only a few employees to national multi-service companies with many branches employing thousands of personnel - many operating worldwide. ECA members employ over 30,000 people and support 8,000 apprentices in their craft training

The Institute of Plumbing, founded in 1906, is a professional body registered as a charity with the prime objective of improving the science, practice and engineering principles of plumbing in the public interest. With some 11,500 members it is one of the largest professional bodies for building services engineering in the world.

Although the Locksmith profession is claimed to be the second oldest in man's history, it is only within the last forty years that British locksmiths have come together in what is now the Master Locksmiths Association. Originally founded in 1958 by a small group in London, it has grown to embrace the British Isles and has members in Europe, America, Australia and Japan. The MLA became a limited Company in 1986, and undertook a major restructure in 1994.

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is the global professional body that represents, regulates and promotes chartered surveyors and technical surveyors. An independent, not-for-profit organisation, the Institution is committed to upholding standards of competence and integrity among its members and providing impartial, authoritative advice on public affairs.
